the wedding that was

its usually said that a good day usually starts with mishaps. well this better be a really good day. departure; Nairobi town, destination; kericho town.
we are supposed to depart from Nairobi at 0530hrs but we left at 0730hrs, we are so damn late behind schedule. reason?? a flat tire in one of the convoy.
music, stories and laughter filled the car that i traveled in. two hours of travelling and we are all hungry. this calls for a stop over. pizza yes!! and that’s what we got at pizza inn next to the view point. we could not resist taking photos though.the journey continues.
the gang then later meets up at nakumatt westside mall in Nakuru. stop over number two for us. dress code was a descent dress for the ladies, so for those who weren’t descent had to change their clothing. we freshen up as well as biological process taking its due course for some of us. all looking glammed up we continue driving up north for two hours more.We arrive kericho which is two times colder than Nairobi. the ceremony begins.
ladies get out of their rides and gang up together as our male counter parts drive into the brides compound. we really have to announce our arrival hence we sing traditional songs just outside the brides compound. the better and louder we will the sooner they will answer and open for us the gates. phew! finally they head to our call and open the gated as they also sing their traditional songs. the two mother in laws hug each other as they great warmly. at this point we know we are fully welcomed and hence join our crowds and sing together. Africans love food. we rate our parties by how quality and quantity of food available. once we spot the food tent, we immediately make a bee line towards it. after filling our tummies the celebrations begin. the food is fabulous no lies.
the bride then comes out from her hiding as ladies from her clan sing to her. she is presented to the grooms’ side. later elders from both sides of the families say their speeches starting with the brides side. the new couple receive advice from marriage gurus i.e anyone who has more than 10 years experience in marriage.
their is no party without music and some body shaking moves. and when we party we dance like its crazy.old, young, men, women all walks of people flock to the dance floor being led by the new married couple. the dances continue until the party fades on.
